Golin
Golin is the solo moniker of singer, producer, classically trained pianist and performance artist Rin Suemitsu. Rin grew up between the Japanese South Island suburbs and the American midwest. Her productions take their cues from a feeling of statelessness and outsider-friction with both cultures. Rin trained as a dancer and choreographer at the California Institute of the Arts and moved to Europe in 2015 to pursue a career in the theater and dance-world, which further inspired a multimedia approach in her sound productions and live performances.
She first appeared in 2016 under the moniker Rin, featuring on Ziúr‘s track “Lilith.” Her debut as Golin – the self-produced EP Momo (Midlife Music) – came in 2017, followed in 2018 by Fushigi, a collaborative EP with producer Buga (Genome 6.66 Mbp). Following a two-year residency at Brussels’ cultural house Beursschouwburg and a year as part of the European SHAPE network, she released her solo EP Crush via NYC True Panther’s Twin imprint in October 2020. Since then, Golin has focused on releasing various solo and collaborative singles, as well as appearing as a guest on other projects. Notably, she released three singles Suki Sugi Replay featuring umru Glasear Distance Decay (2022), Rowdy with additional production by Swan Meat (2022) and Tagawa 3000 featuring Buga (2022). In 2022 she collaborated with Omega Sapien on their remix album Garlic and the Mugwort: The Genesis with a remix track, she featured on Himera debut album Sharing Secrets with the track Pose!, on Zora Jones single Miau and on Varg2™ releases Lonestar Pandemonium (Year0001, 2022), Nordic Flora Series Pt.6: Outlaw Music (Year0001, 2024), with the tracks WITHOUT WAVES: 消える and Venom of Ages / (愛は死よりも冷たい), respectively. Golin contributed with the track One Touch to the RIFT Two Compilation (Year0001, 2023). Her first LP sensor will be self-released on 22nd of November 2024.
